Nature and Parks of Jerusalem

Everyone knows that Israel is rich in all kinds of cultural and historical monuments. In a small area that stretches like a thin ribbon along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, you can find a variety of landscapes and many beautiful plants. Today we are going to talk to you about the nature and parks of Jerusalem!

Let’s Begin With the Seas

There are three seas in Israel: the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Dead Sea. The Mediterranean Sea washes the entire western border of the state. It is never completely calm, even when it’s calm. There is always at least a little wave. A particularly beautiful sunset on the Mediterranean Sea, when you can see the silhouettes of ships coming into port.

In the center of the country is the Dead Sea. Strictly speaking, this is not a sea, but a lake. However, because of its impressive size, they used to consider it a sea. It is dead because it is very salty. The concentration of salts and minerals in it is 9 times higher than in the Mediterranean. Therefore, there are no sea creatures, plants, but the water and mud of the Dead Sea are very useful and are widely used in medicine.

The third sea is the Red Sea. It touches the country only a small gulf in the south. It is the location of the world-famous resort town of Eilat with many hotels and tourist infrastructure. The Red Sea is warmer than the Mediterranean and much cleaner (in this area, anyway). Water is clear, there are almost no waves, and through the water you can see sea creatures – fish.

The rich natural world of Israel is not confined to the seas. There are also mountains and deserts. Mountains are located in the north, central and southern Israel. But they are very different. In the north, the mountains are covered by forests, very similar to ours.

Israel. Mount Carmel

In the south, on the shores of the Red Sea mountains are very different, rocky, under the sunset glow cast a reddish hue, because of which the sea is called Red. The desert. This is a separate conversation. I fell in love with this “Moonscape.” Yes, for some reason I think this is what mountains look like on the moon.

Jerusalem’s Best Parks

Keifzuba Amusement Park

Keifzuba is an amusement park suitable for all ages. The park is divided into several different sectors. There is a large shady courtyard with huge rubber toys. There is also a sector of unusual bicycles and colliding cars. For the littlest ones there is a mini railroad. In the picnic area there are dozens of tables and benches, fully prepared for your holiday and outdoor activities. Hundreds of toys, construction sets, mosaics, various board games (hockey, soccer), slot machines, as well as the computer room and 25 air cannons for shooting balls will not leave any child indifferent. There is also a live corner with exotic animals and a pond with swans.

Independence Park

Independence Park is a vast green area located opposite the U.S. Embassy, in the center of Jerusalem. During the British Mandate, the park was an open area between the Jewish center of the city and the Arab neighborhood. At the end of the War of Independence in 1948 it was laid out as a Jewish park and given the name of Independence. The park serves as a place of recreation for citizens as well as a public purpose. During the day, families with children stroll here, people working in the area dine in the shade in the fresh air, picnics are held, and young people have dates. At night, the park becomes a meeting place for sexual minorities who have chosen Independence Park for their events, such as the Gay Pride Parade. The park also hosts a variety of urban cultural and entertainment programs.

Davidson Center Archaeological Park

The Davidson Center Archaeological Park is an open-air archaeological museum nestled at the Temple Mount, near the Trash Gate. Excavations began as early as 1867 thanks to the English archaeologist Charles Warren. Many generations of scholars have labored to create an image of old Jerusalem. Today, you can see a model of the city in the Center, which reveals a world forever lost to us of the past.

That’s all for now and we hope you enjoyed it very much! Of course the nature of Jerusalem is beautiful, but be sure to go there and check it out for yourself!
